Fraunces Tavern is a tavern, restaurant, and museum that played a prominent role in pre-Revolution and American Revolution history. Owned by the Sons of the Revolution since 1904, the national landmark claims to be Manhattan's oldest surviving building, and is a major stop on the American Whiskey Trail and New York Freedom Trail. The building is famous for hosting George Washington's farewell dinner party with the Continental Army, and held the first offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Treasury, and War before the U.S. capital moved from New York to Philadelphia.
